Last night AS Is, my girlfriend, and I, headed to Revolver on Chapel Street to see my favorite Melbourne band 8 Bit Love launch their EP — the Super Mario Lovers EP.

It was a great show and a great night, and the pizzas at Lucky Coq (great name) provided the foundation for that nicely. I find it odd that I am blogging more and more about food, or that everything is somehow food related, hmmm, maybe I should have been a chef? Nah I hate making it, just love eating it…

Anyway, the show was great, the EP is fantastic. I’m really happy I was involved in the whole recording process. Oh, and guys, if you’re reading this, I still want to remix “Suave” :)

It was actually a good ending to an otherwise shitty day (and even shittier week that I won’t get into) –  yesterday some women T-Boned my car while AS Is and I were getting some McDonalds (Angus The Third rocks [oops there I go again talking about food]). She didn’t do too much damage as she was going in reverse, but still! I felt sorry for her convertible Mercedes, but just more mad at the inconvenience and silliness of it all more than anything.

Well, I am back in the studio today putting some finishing touches on our official single, so at least today has gone good so far. I hope I didn’t just jinx myself.

So I went to the Gold Coast last weekend. Had an AMAZING time with a bunch of good friends and got too really drunk. I’ll post more on that later and post up some funny photos too. As I was lining up to buy what would turn out to be “the best fucking kebab in the world,” after a heavy night of pretty much everything at every bar, this Chris Brown song was playing and I just came up with this verse. Tuesday, home, hung over, tired from all the adventure parks, and slightly numb from all the painkillers, I banged this out. I know it’s an old song now but what the hell, I spent like half an hour on it

Here is the actual photo of me ordering that kebab so the whole moment was captured! Truth be told I’m only posting this song to have an excuse to post all the Gold Coast photos later! Ha!

Peaking over AS Is’s shoulder as he mixes his hook for “Your Side.” A cosmic love song.

We did a count of tracks today and realized there’s eight already done. So the album is alllllllmost there….

I am too busy to log in and post this from my MacBook so please ignore any phoneizms as I type this from my shitty Motorola Backflip (more on that another time).

Last night the other 50% of Take Vienna, AS Is, performed with his other band High Tea. It was a great show. Totally not hiphop but still very very cool. It has made me realize how much I can’t wait to get back on stage a little later in the year.

For now we’re in the studio finishing off the Take Vienna project and I’m also doing some solo stuff produced by Castar and a couple other producers as well.

Aside from that I will announce a new business thing soon. It is still in the early business plan stages but we’re looking to rent offices now and a staff and dedicated team is in place so I think details will begin to come out over the next few months. I don’t want to rush though.

Everything else has been really good. I am blessed, creative, fit and healthy. I can’t ask for anything else but I can strive for more. Locked and loaded and ready to work.

Worst company name ever.

I was meaning to post about just how much I loved Inception but I was too busy thinking about it to actually post it. Maybe after a second viewing later on. I did see it the night it came out though. Anyway, I came across this the other day and my buddy Stred reminded me about it today. For the record, I thought Up was great too. And this is just brilliant.

Ok, this is just crazy! These two games are going to rule my world. Yes, GAMES. Capcom is developing Street Fighter X Tekken with Tekken and Street Fighter characters fighting on the 2D Street Fighter plane and Namco is developing Tekken X Street Fighter with Street Fighter and Tekken characters fighting on the 3D Tekken engine.

No, this is not an awesome April Fools joke.

Last year I was about to release a mixtape I called Better Than Best. The whole concept was taking instrumentals from “the best” rappers out today and rocking songs over them. When I started focusing on Take Vienna and the EP that kind of got pushed to the back and now the songs really aren’t relevant enough to release as a project.

But they were are dope.

So a couple of weeks ago I was looking through old session folders to back things up and came across this one and wanted to post it today because it features KidMac who is part of the TMV crew and their album just dropped today. So if you like this make sure to check that out too. It’s on iTunes. You can also follow Mac on twitter on @kidmac13 (don’t forget me on @rukas).

He recorded his verse a while ago but a studio mix up meant that I never actually got the full acapella; just the 2 track mix down (vocals already over the beat for you non audio savvy people) — so I couldn’t really mix his verse or master the song. So blame any “roughness” on that. I got my girlfriend to come in and do the “Melbourne We Go Hard” parts instead of Santogold’s “Brooklyn We Go Hard.”

Also, here’s a funny candid photo of Chase Baker and KidMac performing with me to the side of the stage drinking. Cheers!

Squires Loft in Melbourne. Nom nom nom. This was last month with my girlfriend, her sister and sister’s fiance. It’s probably not fair to just trivialize him with that label…. but that’s life haha.

Squires Loft is fantastic, one of the best steaks I have ever had. This was the one in South Yarra.

Medium rare with blue cheese sauce. Posting this makes me hungry.
